A Normal Friday Night

Soooooo... the hubs and the youngest son head off for a camping trip with some other dads and sons from church, and since the oldest and I are left to entertain ourselves we head out for dinner.

 I must mention that my oldest had oral surgery yesterday. This encompassed having four wisdom teeth extracted, as well as having tissue removed from over his second molars. As you can imagine, chipmunk cheeks needs soup! :) We had a great dinner together. Have I mentioned I love one on one dinners with my boys? I don't get this opportunity all that often, but when I do, I just love hearing their heart and what's going on in their life. They both tend to open up over a great meal, perhaps that's simply because boys love their food, or maybe it's because we enjoy gathering around a table for a meal every night sharing our stories. Either way, I'll take it! Dinner over, a trip to Best Buy for said son, and a trip to Joann's for me. A couple of hours later, we have in our hands a new video game, and plenty of fabric to keep any woman happy for a few more hours. Two Rhoades men camped, one Rhoades man relaxed and played video games, and one Momma Rhoades sewed... a pillow case. Seems like a totally normal Friday night to me!

A heart that aches

-->
My heart aches for Cambodia. Nope, never been there. Never set eyes on the countryside. Never smelled the air of a third world country. Never hugged any of these kids I’ve seen in so many pictures. BUT, my heart still beats a steady rhythm of love for Cambodia. I’m so ready this time. Ready to leave the comfort zone of my own home and step foot onto the soil of a land that calls my name.

God has placed an undeniable pull on my heart to serve in Cambodia. We, as a family, support two beautiful girls in Beatney Menchey, and yet I have never been able to reach out and touch them. I yearn to be able to hug them, tell them they are beautiful, worthy, a beautiful child of God, and my beautiful daughters. A tug at my heart is an understatement.
